Logan welcomes State flood help

Logan City Council has welcomed the extension of Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangement (NDRRA) to the Logan region.

Beenleigh, Carbrook, Eagleby, Jimboomba, Loganholme, Loganlea, Meadowbrook, Slacks Creek and Waterford West have been added to the list of suburbs that can apply for Category C small business relief measures under the jointly funded Commonwealth/State Government NDRRA.

Affected small businesses and not-for-profit groups such as sporting clubs can apply for Category C clean up and recovery grants of up to $25,000.

Mayor Luke Smith said Logan had been hit hard by Ex-Tropical cyclone Debbie, devastating small business operators and not-for-profits across the city.

“The extension of Category C funding will provide much needed relief as they rebuild,” Mayor Smith said.

“I urge all affected businesses to contact the Queensland Government to see if they are eligible.”

Around 50 businesses were flooded during the late March/early April deluge and many more were disrupted by power outages and road closures.

Council has contacted all affected businesses, not for profit groups and primary producers and offered assistance to access financial relief packages being offered by the State and Federal Governments.
