Severe weather update - 9.30am, Saturday 21 February

Published: 06 Oct 2015 3:07pm

A statement from City of Logan Mayor and Logan Local Disaster Management Group Chairperson, Councillor Pam Parker:

The heavy rain eased considerably across the City of Logan overnight however the Bureau of Meteorology's severe weather warning remains in place with another band of intense rainfall expected in the middle of day.

This maintains a risk that local trouble spots could experience flash flooding throughout the rest of today.

Road closures

We anticipate that more local roads will close as a result of the rain and will be updating our road closure list throughout the night.

We encourage residents to keep checking our road closures page for the latest information.

With heavy rain and winds impacting our city, we suggest to our residents that they minimise non-essential travel.

Sandbags continue to be available at the following locations and times apply:

  • Marsden Depot 9am to 4pm
  • Daisy Hill SES Depot 8.30am to 5.30pm
  • Logan Village SES Depot Noon to 5.30pm

Residents will need to fill their own sandbags. If this is not possible, please contact the SES on 132 500 to make alternative arrangements.

If you need SES assistance for property damage call 132 500. Stay indoors, look after your neighbours, especially the elderly in your neighbourhood.
